Bruce’s service with NSW Ambulance, as a decorated front line operational officer has been honoured with multiple awards including Long Service and Good Conduct, National Service, COVID 19 Pandemic medals, the NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation and Rotary Emergency Service Award.
Bruce has had a lifetime of interest in first aid and part of his constitution, is that the public should have the skills and knowledge to potentially save a life, being part of the chain of survival, that is intrinsically dependent on early intervention – triple zero and CPR, defibrillation, and advanced care.
As a highly skilled paramedic, Bruce held the position of Manager, Stroke Services with NSW Ambulance and was selected as a subject matter expertise for the Acute Stroke Clinical Standards with the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare.
Bruce continues to provide free of charge community awareness through StrokeSafe presentations on behalf of the Stroke Foundation, a national organisation representative of consumers of Stroke.
A keen interest of Bruce that supports his interest in patient safety and clinical governance is that of continuous clinical improvement through reviewing adverse events especially in Healthcare however applicable across industry and investigating systemic failures through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodology.
